L’histoire
Jacquinot & Fils
A family history that has its roots in the 17th century,
when the Jacquinot family began cultivating vines in the
Épernay region. However, it was in 1918 that Pierre Jacquinot,
in parallel with his activity as courtier en raisin and merchant
of wines, gave new impetus to the family vineyard.
In 1929 he installed his first proprietary wine press and began winemaking
on his own. In 1947, together with his sons Jacques and Jean-Guy, he founded
officially Champagne Jacquinot & Fils, based in the historic
quarries in Épernay. Jacques devotes himself to commercial development,
while Jean-Guy concentrates on expanding the vineyard and on the
oenological quality.
Today, the company is led by Jean-Manuel Jacquinot, oenologist and
son of Jean-Guy, assisted by François Nicolet, son-in-law of
Jacques. The domaine has 17 hectares of vineyards conducted according to the
principles of reasoned viticulture, to guarantee healthy grapes of high
quality.
The three classic Champagne grape varieties - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and
Pinot Meunier - are cultivated with care throughout the growing
vegetative cycle, under the careful control of the Maison's technicians. The
harvest, strictly by hand, is followed by the
pressing, still carried out with the press installed in 1929,
a symbol of continuity between tradition and modernity.
